Bali ~ Day 1 - 3
Ubud + Kintamani
Ok, Bali.
Like.. Finally...?
I wasn't really enthusiatic bout' this place, initially. I mean...
So am I keen on this place now...?
OH HELL YEAH!!!
Ahem.
That aside... Bali is really pretty, no? From the sea, to the lush greenery of the mountains, the paddy fields. Then there's the rivers....
This was actually a company trip. By 'company', it means all 5 of us. Uhuh, including our boss (it's a small company). Meant for us to Rest & Relax and dive together. Yes, all of us are scuba divers.
Upon arrival, we went straight up to Ubud cos' we can feel the extreme heat at the airport itself and were eager for much cooler temperature...
...Cooler temperature, my foot! Ubud wasn't even cool, but it sure isn't as hot as Kuta. Must be the global-warming....
Our arrival coincide with their 'Hari Raya', i.e. the Hari Galungan & Kuningan. The timing couldn't be better cos' you can just feel the excitement in the air. And the decorations of the 'Penjor Bambu' outside most houses.... Wow..!
Stayed at this uber-popular resort, Tegal Sari. So popular that we have to book more than 6 months in advance. It's always packed!
My bosses stayed at the new wing (more spacious & private) while my colleague, Sri & I stayed at the old wing (quaint & charming). And both our rooms (lower quarters of 2-storey semi-detached building) faced the vast paddy fields. Gorgeous!!!!
Things we did at Ubud:
Day 1 - White-water (cat. 2 & 3) rafting at Ayung River. Followed by evening spa session (a must!).

Day 1 - White-water (cat. 2 & 3) rafting at Ayung River. Followed by evening spa session (a must!).
Day 2 - Visited the Pura Tirta Empul (Sacred Spring Temple) at Tampak Siring on Galungan Day. Then we checked out the terraced paddy plantations at Tegallalang. That evening, we watched the Legong Dance at the Lotus-Pond Temple.
Day 3 - Checked out of Tegal Sari and visited Kintamani en route to Seraya/Tulamben.
There, we took in the sight of the magnificent Lake/Mount Batur. Then there's also Mount Agung (also the highest mountain in Bali).
We also managed to visit the Tirtagangga Water Palace Gardens.
The journey to get to Seraya/Tulamben took more than 4 hours, okay? I admit that quite an amount of time was taken to snap pics of the gorgeous paddy fields (hello, we got a 'photog' in our midst...).

It rained on our way from the airport to Ubud. Stopped by a restaurant for a meal and we were greeted with this breath-taking sight.
I already fell in love with Ubud right then.
The lower unit.
Just one of those we visited. The best one was right after the white-water rafting experience. Massaged all those sore limbs away.
Watched a cultural dance performance on one of our nights in Ubud.
Sacred Spring Temple.
Went here on Galungan Day. Akin to their New Year. Very festive atmosphere.
Balinese Hindu cleansing themselves in the water from the sacred spring on this festive day.
Passed by this view of Lake Batur at Kintamani, on our way to Seraya.
I remembered that 'Tirta' is the name of my paternal great-grandfather. Only when I come here do I know that 'Tirta' means, Water, in Sanskrit.
