Green Sky - Bedok Corner

**This was sometime in October…**

I've been thinking about satay. A bit too much, lately.

So on one Sunday evening, when paying a visit to my parent's place, my bro asked where to go to, for dinner. I immediately quipped, "East Coast! Been some time since we ate there…"

"Closed for renovation. Maybe for 6 months?"

"…How about Bedok Corner?"

And that's how we ended up there. And my! Was it crowded or what?! We've never, ever had to wait for empty table whenever we were there and it was getting to be pretty frustrating, actually. Then I recall the closure of East Coast Lagoon Food Centre… No wonder people have been flocking here instead! Maybe for some satay fix.

We ended up with a seat near this never-seen-before stall. "Bro, is this the new Char Kway Teow stall you told me about?" There's another stall selling the same fare and has been around for years, located across the food centre on the other side. Also with a green signboard (with no specific stall name), albeit of a darker shade.

So is this stall trying to be a copycat? Maybe it's seen the success of the other stall, dishing out Halal Chinese favourites and decide to ride on that?

Well, there's only one way to know… Taste test!

The stall

3 main food items, Char Kway Teow, Carrot Cake (white/black) & Fried Oyster Omelette.

The CKT and carrot cake have many variants eg. cockles, mushrooms etc..

We end up ordering all 3. Guess my family is THAT curious.

Char Kway Teow

My bro's order.

Very nice! Moist, with ample amount of ingredients (cockles!) and bursting with flavour. And not too greasy.

Black Carrot Cake (Chai Tow Kueh)

My mum's order. Also nice. Lots of 'chye poh' (preserved radish), enough black sauce and pretty eggy. Wish they had sprinkled some chopped scallions/cilantro on top, though.

Fried Oyster Omelette (Orh Luak)

My order. My hubby also had his own plate. As soon as I saw their signboard, I knew I want that. My hubby surprised me when he asked for the same item. "Do you know what THAT is??" (Guess I underestimate him).

I wonder if I made a bad choice. Had a bad experience the last time I ordered from the other stall. The 'orh luak' I had that time was greasy, not-so-crispy and the oysters were smallish. Pretty disappointed, then.

I guess if this one also fail, I'll just make my family share with me.

Big, juicy oysters!

I definitely wasn't disappointed. The oyster omelette was crispy at the right parts, eggy, not greasy and loaded with plump & juicy oysters. I LOVE it. And that tangy chilli sauce served on the side works well to offset any fishiness (not that there's much).

So much so that I don't feel like sharing. LOL. One gripe, though. Maybe they're really busy that evening so our food took sometime to arrive.

But I gotta' leave room for some satay. The reason I came here at the first place. Out of the many satay stalls; there's Satay Solo, Satay Power, Malek Satay etc. my bro chose Satay Solo because there's a pretty lady taking orders.. Pfft!

All the satays here are somewhat good, I must say. Maybe the sauce from this stall triumph over the others, or maybe this stall has nicer meat, or chicken or even 'babat' (tripe)... It all evens up somehow.

I guess, now I'll just come back to Green Sky for my 'Orh Luak' fix!

PS:  East Coast Lagoon Food Centre is now open and back in business (6 months, my foot)! I miss that Tahu Kicap!
