Whooo!!!!!!!!!! Finally did this! G-MAX Reverse Bungy at Clarke Quay.

The best part??! It wasn't even planned. Just a spur-of-the-moment decision. Now, that's what makes most plans work...Hmmmm...
My collegue was pretty reluctant but we drag her along anyway. We believe it to be a once-a-lifetime thingy (after all, it will only feel different/less challenging the next time round).
I wore a long skirt. Shucks. Was pretty worried about that while waiting for my turn. But then, the lady before me wore a Marilyn Monroe-style dress and she did ok. The safety belt kinda' go in between the legs...
People got the jitters when waiting for their turn. My collegue's mate(who wore a tudung) and myself, we were more worried bout how we will appear. After all, there's a camera attached. Gotta look ok, baby. Image...Image!
The whole thing was ok, I guess. The only G-Force (the thing that ppl fear) was felt only at the split-second when we were at the first (and highest) jump and we start going down....Whoo! After that it start to boink up and down..Oh, did I mention that it rotates too? That's what makes it soo cool.
What's not cool is that there's suddenly a large crowd below. Why? Here's what I assume.
1) We are an all girl team. Malays, even.
2) There's someone who wears a tudung. Ppl always assume tudung-wearing girls to be pretty conservative. So they're curious.
3)This may be during the jump itself..Cos' we screamed the LOUDEST!!! AAArgh!!!

Heh..Just for fun. It cool! Gotta try, guys!

Good tip: It's best if there's a student amongst you(who has a student pass). Discounted from $30 to $25 and the vcd, $10 instead of $15.

This is an early birthday treat for myself. Last few days as a 21-year old. *sob...*sob...Uwahhh!

Watched this on DVD days back. Pardon my failure to catch up..Now I know why some ppl go crazy about Mini Coopers during the time this movie is being screened..Hmmm...(I know...i know..some of you must be screaming.."slowwww!!!")

The story, fwahh...Cool. All these stories bout' heists (a.k.a. well planned robberies) never failed to fascinate me. Not to mention high speed car chases..(what's more the cars look soooo cuuuteeee!!!)
There's Mark Wahlberg as Charlie Crocker a.k.a the mastermind
Charlize Theron(a beauty) as Stella Bridger a.k.a the safecracker
Edward Norton (Mr Funny Voice) as Steve Frezelli a.k.a. the thief/murderer
And many others who make up the team of good guys i.e: the explosives expert, the hacker & the driver.

I give it....
8/10 Mark Wahlberg, despite being named the lead had minimal character exposure. He may appear on screen but u can hardly feel his presence amongst the other guys who create the funny antics & remarks and more action. Charlize's 'cool' demeanor wowed me over. Her posture, speech...Ice princess(her character) at her best.

What did the critics say at Rotten Tomatoes ???
"Not only is this new Job a generally better movie than the 1969 caper, it moves through the paces with a light, confident grace very much its own."
--Robert Koehler, Variety.com

Trivia: Do you know that before the movie, the cast have to go thru' advanced driving lessons in preparation for their roles? Guess who came out as best student?
It's Charlize, baby. She surprised even the instructors. Mark Wahlberg??? He puked the first time the intense driving is done, no thanks to a heavy meal, I guess.

This concert rocksss!!!

Channel 5 is superb to be playing great concerts very Friday nights. So what if I can't go out??! These concerts are to-die-for.

First it's Linkin Park Live in Texas. Just now was RHCP Live at Slane Castle. New week it's Black Eye Peas Live in Cologne. Whoo!
RHCP is such a splendid band. Maybe it's because they have lotsa' experience, but their live performance is fantastic! Anthony Kiedes's voice remains the same over the years, in the album & live. Flea was even 'melodic' with the bass. Jack Irons was in rythm as the drummer and John Frusciante...Oh, what can I say bout' that guy?? He's so-damn-good!!! Gawd, he played with such passion you can swear he looks like he's making love to that guitar of his. Lucky thing! (the guitar, i mean)
Another thing that totally rocked their concert is their stamina. They totally freak me out with their energy as the pranced around the stage ('they' meaning everyone except the drummer). And Anthony Kiedes still sing on w/o being out of breath! Amazing! I discovered this new song of theirs which is so damn good I'm surprised it's not released as a single. The guitar solo (I totally dig guitar solos) is power, man!

My all-time favs are the 2 singles from their album, BLOODSUGARSEXMAGIC - Give It Away & Under The Bridge. Giverrrraaaawayy!!!

I dunno if it's because it's been a loooong time since I last read a 'real' book but I'm going goo-gaga over this 'un.

Leaving Eden by Ann D. LeClaire

It's a very simple story, really..ala Judy Blume's pre-pubscent tween girls kinda' books but there's more to it than meets the eye. This is the kinda' book that makes me want to analyse each and every line, like how literature students had been forced to do back in seconday school.

Set in the picturesque suburbs back in the late 80s/early 90s, the storyline is set simply yet will subtly reveal surprises that are so pleasing, they come no more like a gentle breeze on the cheeks. The twists, you hardly realize them as they blend into every happenings in the story. Every moment is like a slight touch..similar to that of butterfly kisses (oh gosh, I swear it's not me but a reincarnate of the author in me typing... Yikes!)....

There's so much I learnt in this book. Trust, beliefs, dreams, friendship, mother-daughter relationships, growing up, being independent, love and most importantly, life itself. Maybe it helps that the lead character took notes of things that can help her remember her mom which eventually turned the book into a guidebook somewhat of she could have learnt (but never had) from her late mom about what she will go thru' eventually in life (like in the songs, Que Sera Sera/Buses & Trains).

Here are some points to help you go by:
*A person's as big as her dreams
*It takes more than an accident of blood to make one a family
*Wanting is a powerful thing
*Take care not to let others push their dreams on you
*Everyone has a need to feel needed
*It's the things that we're denied that we want the most
*It's hard to figure out what will kill you & what will will cure you & how to know the difference
*Like most things in life, driving isn't hard once you get the knack of it. Getting the knack is the hard part.
*Why are we given a thing so beautiful that it can make you ache and then take it away?
*Why can't it be that things that were so perfect & true stayed that way? Why couldn't the good ever stay?
*Always say goodbye when you have the chance. Regret is a pitiful thing.
*Being around death makes you hunger for life
*Magical things rise out of unlikely beginnings
*Losing your head causes bad problems to get worse
*It is a mighty & terrible possiblity that a person can do great harm with the least intention
*Sometimes forgiveness doesn't have to be earned
*A person's job in life is to find & follow her own dreams

~~~And the story ends with this last line...~~~
*The Queen if Cures is Love
Tell you what. Why dun' you select you favourite line(s) and put them in the comments & give your remarks as to why that is your favourite(s). I'm curious...
Similarly, if you can't figure out what a certain line(s) means, I'll be glad to be of help... *Ciao!
Check out the 'Spider-boys' in Yamakasi...
Yar..Yar...I know. First it's A Cinderella Story.. Now it's Dodgeball... What's next? Seriously, I dunno. Maybe I'll finally get back to my old movie self when the foreign film festival comes again to Singapore...Or when Cathay decides to bring in more watch-worthy art-house films (whenever all that is).
Which reminds me that I forgot to watch one of the most popular, yet decent French film ever! Les Choiristes...Aaargh! How can I forget..? And it got such rave reviews...Ish!
Oh..And The Great Challenge(Fils du vent, Les). Another great action film. Those who caught Luc Besson's Yamakasi gotta catch this 'un. Like some kinda' sequel, I think. For this, you can forget about plot, dramas or dialogues. Even the director claimed that the ratio of action to dialogues is like...A wholesome 5:1..!
Trivia: Do you know that Yamakasi is actually inspired by true happenings about innovative street kids from the poorer suburbs of Paris who actually climb buildings as a supposedly unique form of entertainment..? Cool, isn't it..?
But don't you ever dare of doing the same in Singapore (despite us having lotsa' climb-worthy buildings) lest you wanna risk spending time behind bars...
Watched Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story just now. Heee...
Ben Stiller was so...awsomely funny! Successfully irritating as the super egoistic, jerk-ass, chauvinistic and a fitness freak of a 'small' guy. And dun' forget the ugly moustach and awfully permed hair. He walked around in tights practically the whole time and he luurved purple. Can it get any worse..? Wait till' you see the part when he 'pumped' up his 'crotch' in order to attract that pretty lawyer(who, by the way is his real-life wifey, Christine Taylor)...UUUgh!
And the bunch of misfits that make up 'The Average Joes'..? They garnered the most laughs from me..Check out their practice sessions. Hilariousss!!! Oh..oh..And their 'uniform' for their first game in the tournament..Whoo...! Vince Vaughn is pretty convincing as the super-slacker yet cheeky-in-his-own way yet motivational boss. Gosh, I'm still snickering now...
8.5/10 If I were to judge this as a comedy...yeah..It's helluva funny. Dun' forget to look out for the cameos from various guest stars... I personally think David Hasselhoff's appearance is the funniest.
4.5/10 If I were to judge it as a movie by itself. Too cheesy. Characters too corny..Plot too shallow. Dialogues a bit.....nevermind. Who cares, anyway..? What's important is that it's entertaining!
Check out reviews at Rotten Tomatoes
"Ben Stiller plays a pumped-up fitness guru in a consistently funny sports spoof that unapologetically roots for the uber-nerds."
-- Stephen Holden, THE NEW YORK TIMES.
In case you're wondering why in the world do I choose to watch this crack-ass movie... I brought my 2 nieces along and I can't possibly watch 'Wicker Park', can't I??? Heeez...
I actually watched the Linkin Park-Live in Texas on Ch 5 yesterday (I bet my bro must be snickering away rite' now..)
I actually sorta 'swore-off' their music when they released the 'Reanimation' album. Big disappointment, I'd say.
I actually tolerated the turn-table riff-raffs in the first album cos' I tot their music is different..their lyrics, powerful. I'm one of those who joined their fan club online..Logging on everyday to keep myself updated in the message boards...Gang up with fellow S.E. Asian fans to bug them to come down to our region...Became ecstatic when I got LP merchandise on my b'dae.... And my bro supported me in my idolising them cos' it's the first band that I like independently i.e. I'm finally liking a band that he dun' really fancy.
And then they released THAT album.
I went down to HMV to sample the music (since they make such a big hoo-hah of it online..not to mention the various collaborations...) and I was like.."what the #@%$ ???" It was so hip-hoppy and turn-table riff-raffs...is of the major kind! Eeuuurgh! It sounded sooo....Zouk! So X-ecutioners..BIG TIME!
Coming to their latest Meteora album, my interesed has totally waned off (dun' even mention THAT song, Breaking The Habit)... I even gave their concert at The Padang a miss.
Yet, when the concert on tv came on yesterday, I actually sang to every one of their songs..Yep..including those from the Meteora album. First time I heard Chester sang life, he actually suck (from Ozzfest '99, I think). Now, he's good. Maybe practice make perfect, that's why.
Almost nostalgic, hearing back the songs from the Hybrid Theory album..Sigh...
In fact, the CD is on while I'm typing this...
Just what is the date that Chinese New Year falls on next year??? Planning for holidays is always a hassle, esp. when it's either u or no one else. I'm never an 'organising' sorta person, aniwae...
First things first...Where to go??? It's the blardee monsoon season during that period and I'm really running outta ideas as a possible location that can fit my criteria...
Here's the list..(Not in the order of any importance whatsoever, cos' I have not idea YET what to prioritise..)
~stick to my budget < SG$500
~beach area...islands, maybe??
~snorkelling..? at least some nice (and safe) sea sport...Preferably scuba diving available
~no backpackers hotels...maybe a cheap hotel but backpackers hotels can be quite a nightmare...oh.... and as close as possible to the sea.
~relaxing..last place I need to relax in is a bustling city area with heavy traffic, grimy streets and..*urgh...! noise
~shopping not important (or so I thought...we'll see later)
~easy journey to the specified destination
~let the place not be haunted (what the...?!)Last thing I need is a strange encounter to aid me in my relaxation
~no doubts bout' the food..safe & 'halal'
*Everybody, let's welcome....Every travel agents' nightmare...!*
Look, I may sound like some spoilt bitch here, trying to get a good bargain to go with all sorta' requirements but I currently have no idea whatsoever as to the actual holiday plans. This is just the 1st stage, ok???!
Been a long time since I surf the Net for real (gotta make my unlimited Broadband subscription worth it..)
I happened to stumble on this TV show on Channel i on Thursday 9 Sept 2004 while channel surfing during dinner (this occurs only when I come back late after work & had to eat alone..*Sigh...)
Aniwae, one of the topics in this supposed documentary is about blogging and they highlight 2 S'porean bloggers who have some of the most visited blogs. Both coming from diverse backgrounds; they discussed the outcomes of their various styles of blogging during the show.
Mr Brown is a very effervescent & whimsical blog and Mr Brown Town seemingly sees his surroundings in a light-hearted, almost comical manner. However, put aside the liveliness and you'll see that he's discussing current affairs, local issues. Interesting.
Check out his entry called, "London Tube announcements." It's hilarious!
Xiaxue, meanwhile has a more direct approach which may come as pretty blunt, even overboard to some. She took it all in her stride and continued with what she does best. Give honest/frank opinions of what she sees around her. From her words, I know she's a smart girl(that's how she can analyse her surroundings) and some of her entries are pretty comical. Read the entry dated on: Tuesday, September 07, 2004 - "Are the females in Singapore all ugly, or what?" Had a great laugh reading that 'un.
Oh, she has decided to give more of her intellectual self in her new blog, Xiaxue The Geek. Check out her book reviews of Animal Farm & 1984. Bombastical!
I keep changing fonts till' I feel like I'm the un' going bonkers. Maybe I should change the skin altogether but lazy, lah. I'd rather improvise on the current un' until there comes a day when I am so damn free (whenever that will be..)
Why is it that I'm so free now? Well...
one - my grandma has gone back to her home. Not that I mind her at my home but I kinda miss this comp. When I am free to use it, she's already asleep at my room..Dun' wanna disturb her...So, go figure.
two - I've taken the day off...Why?
three - Cos' I went shopping at J.B. with me bro! Heh.
Busted a few hundred but at least I'm satisfied..That has gotta do with the fact that it's a blardee weekday today and everywhere it's way far from being crowded. I can run from one end of the shopping centre to another w/o crashing into anyone. Frreeeeedoooommm! *I hate crowds*
Think I may do this more often. Maybe further north. K.L??? When everybody is rushing back and forth with their daily routine...There I am, breezing in from 1 shop to another, taking my own sweet time...pondering..deciding...pondering..(hey, I'm flicker-minded..) Then hop into another cab and proceed to the next shopping centre.
*Ark! This is the ultimate step to financial disaster!!! No crowd means more freedom, meaning that a happier me will wanna spend more. Noooo!!!! Ok, that's it. Scrap that plan. Scrap it!!!
Sheesh..To think that I'm finally planning something good for myself (or so I tot')...Hmmpf!
Jason Bourne & Marie(whose character lasted all of 10mins), before her untimely death. No wonder I never see her much in the trailers...
Watched Bourne Supremacy yesterday. Helluva' movie I'd say. Action at it's best. It was fun! Fun with a Capital "F". Based on the utmost favourite topic. Conspiracy. Whoo! Gimme more! Enthralling!
The story is more character-driven, amidst all the action. I almost couldn't recognise Joan Allen with that long hair(too much of Face/Off, where she sports short, curly hair). Julia Stiles appeared for less the 10mins, too. In fact, the only prominent female face is that of Joan Allen. Then there's Karl Urban(of LOTR fame) as Kirill, the Russian secret service agent/assasin. He is so hot & cool at the same time. Really mysterious yet...charming. Hmm...So much for irony. Just the way I like my guys. Har har..Can't believe this..Outrageous! Why is it that I always end up gushing after the baddie? The fact that I'm gushing..? Eeuwwww!!!
9/10 This movie is superb. The characters, the plot, the action, the twist, the ending..In fact, everything lah. I dunno if it's too late to say this but those who haven't seen it, should go!
Let's see what they say at Rotten Tomatoes
"With an intense tone, strong mystery and dedication to story over frivolous action, The Bourne Supremacy is one of the best movies of the year!"
-- Willie Waffle, WAFFLEMOVIES.COM
I agree with him totally. In fact, so do others. Both cinemas that I watched it in was full houses. And this movie is already into its second week.
Ermmm...In case you're wondering...Yep. I watched this movie TWICE yesterday. At different locations. And I still love it. Getting the DVD, actually. Heh...Believe me..It's THAT good!
How cheesy..."Cinderella" & "Prince Charming"... Dancing in a pavilion full of candles & flowers. Awww...
Watched A Cinderella story - 2350 show at Cineleisure on Friday nite'/Saturday morn. Yep, in the wee hours of Sept 11, I watched a romantic teen movie.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but that movie is entertaining. A diner, a vain stepmom, blur-block step-sisters(that never seem to be able to get along), a nerdy best pal, a diner manager with an attitude, a football jock(with brains to boot), handphones(think..SMS), computers(howwabout' chatrooms)..Voila! You got yourself the ultimate recipe for a modern-day Cinderella. Not bad...
6.5/10 It's entertaining enough...I like her converse shoes. Other than the pink one.
Here's what critics gotta say at Rotten-Tomatoes
"The sort of entertainment that makes you happy to be grown up and able to avoid the current onslaught of trite, lazy, unimaginative films aimed at tween-agers."
-- Connie Ogle, MIAMI HERALD
Ermm...Not much good reviews..actually..But I like the next review.
"....Remarkably, Duff is not annoying."
-- Willie Waffle, WAFFLEMOVIES.COM
Ha ha. That's a good one!
Shucks, man. The sombre-looking pic of the late Brandon Lee as The Crow(my fave movie!!) can't be accessed! I think the webmaster blacklisted me cos' I use the pic w/o permission..but hey I dun see anything bout' copyright....Sigh, I lurve that pic.... Hmmpf!
Watched "Dia" on Suria yesterday. My cousin told me it's gonna be the last ep. just because the increased the showtime by 1/2 hour(supposedly a grand finale...). I even asked my bro to come back early to send me mum just so I can watch it all the way till' 11pm. Turns out there's more eps. to come. I know because the plot is now at its thickest (and the fact that my Indonesian cousin watched it before...) I actually grew lotsa' hatred for that crazy bitch Fifi.
Kudos to her(the actual actress), man. Her acting's so damn bloody convincing that I actually felt that way bout' her character. That white face with the ridiculously pink lipstick...With everytime she enlarged her eyes as she seethed with anger..Threatening the sickly Dwi and killing Ivan's mother...So blardee conniving. Hate her..hate her...
Looking at Lulu Tobing(Dia) I'm so envious of how she looked. In fact, I onli like Indonesian celebs who dun possess the Pan-Asian/Indian/Arab looks that is so worshipped by most. Adore the looks of Gunawan, Teuku Ryan, Lulu Tobing, Maudy Koesnadi..etc It's just sooo...wholesome...sooo..natural..Duh!
Watching the teeny-bopper movie,"The Cinderella Story" later(midnite' show) at Cathay.
Guess you'll be seeing a review of that movie tomorrow-that is, if I can find the time to update in between waking up and getting ready for another movie in the afternoon(after the midnite' movie, what makes you think I can wake up early??)...And another review of whatever movie I'm watching tomorrow, perhaps on Sunday. Perhaps.
Spent last weekend(as of 3pm last Sat) zipping around. After all, it's my part-time job...(part-time driver). I can tell you, my patience is at it's lowest that weekend.
Here's my very curious nature asking all those errant drivers who filter from lane to lane or overtake without even signalling.
~Is it that BLOODY difficult to just flick that blardee lever to signal???!
~And can you please not bloody overtake at bloody high speed when you are THAT damn close to other vehicles?
~Drivers who think they can't go faster thatn 70kph on the second lane, they better consider their options before filtering all the way there...(or maybe look into the rear-view mirror and see that they are actually hogging that bloody lane)
~Lorry/truck drivers who think that the commisions they earn per trip is more important than the fact that they are endangering other ppls' lives on the road as they sleep while driving...They can go to hell for all I know(I can tell you I've encountered such drivers on many occasions).
~Taxi drivers I know you are out to earn an income, but I please, please signal in advance(if you signal at all) when you are going to dash from the extreme right to extreme left just to pick up some passenger. But for more of your wrong-doings, refer to point 1 & 2. Thanks. However, after spending the whole weekend zipping around from one end of S'pore to the other, all I can say, kudos, to u guys for having the energy & patience. I'm seriously spent...
Watched this yest..Been a long time since I last watched a movie at Century..(do you know you can't access Century from that crappy Shaw website? Sheesh...)
Anyway, the movie...Kinda' freak me out. Lust like how Blair Witch Project touched our 'fear' nerve of being in an unknown place packed with hidden stories...Open Water works the same way. Except that this time it touches on our fear of being lost...in an open ocean. The presence of the sharks (yes, there's quite a number..) doesn't help, either. There are a few times when I squirm in my seat whenever a shark(or two) got near. How hapless they seem when all you see is nothing but sea gulls, the sky and the horizon.
Some funny moments, too. When they kinda' lost it and had an argument...Let's see..Pardon me if my quote isn't that accurate. "...I can't believe we are here. And you know what? We actually paid for this! .....We want a vacation with an ocean view. We sure got it!..." And towards the end of the argument..the wife add "...I actually want to go skiing..."
I give it 8/10 Cos' it manage to touch my inner fears..Hit a raw nerve, there. If you wanna drama, this film's not for you. As a fan of art house films, this film is pretty all right. The ending? A dismal for some but to me, it doesn't come as a surprise.
Reviews courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes. (again)
"In a less media-frenzied world, this small movie would find some admirers at art house theaters. As it is, Open Water nearly sinks beneath the hype that surrounds it. "
--
John Wirt, ADVOCATE (BATON ROUGE, LA)
After all this, give me ten reasons why I should even plan for my next diving trip...???
Watched this on DVD with my bro 2 nites ago...Great fun to watch, I'd say...It's kinda' unfair for me to judge cos' I'm such a great fan of Jennifer Garner...Anyway...
7.5/10 The storyline is pretty plain, really..A tad too good to be true..But great twist to the near end...However...
9/10 For Jennifer...Heh..She's such a good actress..Her crying...her excitement...So way off from Alias....She looks good in all the clothes..even down to that PJs, That missing 1/10? She walks a tad too manly and she runs funny.
Let's leave it to the experts...Here's a peek from Rotten Tomatoes.
"It turns out Garner is a natural comedian with real presence. And, ultimately, her convincing performance is what makes 13 Going on 30 watchable."--
Jeff Vice, DESERT NEWS, SALT LAKE CITY
That's my Jennifer...
There's a thin line between love & obsession. Drive it.
"....The Z4 2.5i is candy to the senses. With the first glance comes instant gratification, quickly followed by more profound pleasures and lasting rewards. A 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine that can clock 60 mph in 7.1 seconds* on its way to a top speed of 146 mph. Massive four-wheel disc brakes for quick stops. Laser-sharp steering for quick lane changes and tight cornering. The Z4..."
I was never a fan of BMWs. Well, not until my fren pointed out the BMW Z4 at the Holland V car park. That was last Sat, but I'm still thinkin bout' that baby...
*droool...*
But then again, a bit too fancy, lah. Also, where got $$$ ?
...Sheesh... So I sit back, hands behind my head...and continue dreamin...
...Vrrooom.
Wednesday, August 25, 2004
I have this knack for using metaphors to get my point thru' though I wonder if it really works... Eg:
"...You've dug the whole..You gotta cover it up yourself. Be careful that you dun fall in. Someone may help you, but that person won't have any idea why the hole is there, what it's for. Even if you tell, it won't have much significance on that individual cos' he/she is not the un' who dug the hole in the 1st place...Quickly fill back the hole, before you tire of the idea, before the sun harden the soil or the rain burden it... Ppl may fall in, maybe get hurt. Maybe it can even be yourself..."
Meaning: You got yourself into trouble, you get yourself out of the mess. Make sure you are not trapped by your own problems. Someone may help you but may not know why the problem surfaced. As much as you try to explain, that person may not be able to relate themselves to the situation for it's not their undoing anyway. If you dun settle the problem early, you may drag the issue & circumstances may complicate the situation further, getting others involved unecessarily or you may fall even deeper into the problem...
Like I said, watchin at IMAX has always been a great experience. Everything is just so much larger-than-life('life' referring to regular theatres...)
When the action starts, I can't help wincing everytime Spidey kena hit or when he fell (which happened rather often...)When something funny happened(he's a klutz..) it was almost hilarious. When he got sad...my heart broke.... Anyway he looks like a 12-yr old kid 1/2 the time...
But everything has its not-so-good part. When it's boring(happens with his aunt....) I couldn't take it. Felt like fast-forwarding. If watchin it normally would be 8/10..This IMAX experience mekes it 9/10..It felt THAT much better.
Heh....how much do you think GV paid me to promote their IMAX theatre?
Saturday, August 21, 2004
Gonna watch Spiderman II at IMAX later. Yipeee!! Love the IMAX experience. Last time I went there, I watched Matrix Revolutions. Superb, man. Esp. the fighting scene in the rain...
Betcha, it's gonna feel like I'm in the OmniMax theatre when Spidey swings around...Whoo!
The epitome of perfection in women...Dressed 60's style, perfectly coiffured hair, better being blonde, heels, good ettiquette and ALWAYS serves the husband...Scary...
Watched The Stepford Wives yesterday..Boooring.... I just need to entertain myself. Nic Kidman looks horribly tall beside Matt Broderick. In fact, she looks like a giant 1/2 the time. The whole movie is fake, corny and ridiculously streotyped. See how narrow ppl can be. Even the twist is no less twisted than Alice In The Wonderland.
The only good thing bout' this movie? Gorgeous gardens and even superb-looking cars at the men's clubhouse courtyard.
Ok...An extract from http://www.movie-gazette.com/cinereviews/859
"...It's Got: Pastel dresses, caked-on make-up, and the most prettiest ATM machine you'll ever clap eyes on.
It Needs: A finale that doesn't look like it's been hurriedly stuck on after the dismal failure of audience test screenings (which, in actual fact, it was).
Alternatives: The Stepford Wives (1975), To Die For, The First Wives Club
Summary: It's safe to say nobody will remember this version twenty years down the line - but it's a reasonable enough distraction while it's on. 6/10
Review by Gary Panton..."
Ian Thorpe, world record holder, Gold medalist, 200m men's swimming
Despite the fatigue of working almost 12 hrs in the office, I was still able to stay up to catch my favourite Olympic sport - starting at 1230hrs..no less...swimming..! Woo hoo! Especially the ultimate showdown back on 16th Aug..The 200m mens' freestyle...
To see all my 3 heroes on the podium...Priceless...
Bronze~Michael Phelps (USA)
Silver~Pieter Van Hoogenband a.k.a Hoogie (Nederlands)
Gold~ Ian Thorpe a.k.a Thorpedo (Australia)
FYI..Michael Phelps is the mens' butterfly champion...Whoo!
The women gave lotsa' surprises. China gotta their first gold in swimming in years...The world champion fell...And a rising star in the form of a 16-yr old from Italy... And the Romanian swimmer who didn't know she won...Yep, an underdog..Even the commentators hardly notice/talk bout' her.
Then 2 days back, I found out the Hoogie and former world champion/the original 'torpedo' - Alexander Popov, didn't make it thru' the qulifying round for 100m freestyle. Disappointing...Hoogie is always the one with the fastest time... And Popov is revered even by Ian Thorpe himself...Shucks...
Guess now I can onli update my blog once a week, huh? Sianz.....
Been overtimeming for more than a week, now, going home at least ard 8pm....And I am still up to my neck with work...Seriously.
Funny thing is, I dunno what is the work I get done! After all that OT-ing, I can't find a work that's done...Ish...Something is amiss....Hmmm.....Hmmpf!
Oh, ya...4got. Before it's too late...
H-A-P-P-I-E N-A-T-I-O-N-A-L D-A-E ! ! !
Is it the 39th yr? Guess so..Ok ..Happie 39th b'dae S'pore!!! Ahem.. Sooo, do I sound patriotic? sucker...
The long weekend is just over. So what if it's a long weekend? I hardly had any fun out of it. Ok, lah. Getting involved in a wedding is pretty fun. And tiring.
Friday(eve)- Overtime. Suddenly realized I gotta lotsa' deadlines by next Wed.
- Send my granny to my uncle's @ Bukit Panjang.
-Drop by my aunt's (who's having the wedding) to see wat's up and realised there's lots to be done. Help 2 decorate the wedding gifts. Stayed there till 1+am. Brought my niece from Blakang Padang(who's a yr younger and supposedly looked like me..har har) home. Luckily we got along...
Sat(morn.)- Collect epok2x from my fren's for my aunt. Brought my niece, Indah(yeap, that's her name) along.
- Realised that the wedding gifts are still not ready. The nikah is this afternoon. Rushed. I dunno if the family is impressed but we ( inclusive of moi cousins) are given the job to style up the mas-kahwin, collect the cake, decorate the bridal car...Whatever. Dunno that a stressed-up bridegroom can be super irritating(sorry Abg. Ani..)
- After the nikah, got back to attend my neighbour's wedding and drove my parents to 2 more. Came back to the wedding to fetch my niece and her family who just arrived, 2 my home. Tot of coming back and O/N at the wedding. Too tired, liao. By then it's almost 1. Slept while talking to my mom while watchin' Winter Sonata.
Sun(till' eve.)- THE WEDDING. My cousin gotta' a great no. of bikes to escort him to his wifey's. Wah lau. 6 Harleys + more than 10 scooters & vespas + more than 10 tzrs..Whatever it is the procession turned heads (you would if you see the ruckus) The whole area is covered in helluva' noise and exhaust fumes and the smell of burnt rubber.
- Back to work @ moi cousin's wedding.
- Back home with the Blakang Padang family. Brought them to the nearby pasar malam. Packed, man.
Mon(till' eve)- Brought the Blakang Padang family to Geylang.
- Send them to Harbourfront Ferry terminal.
-Realized it's moi uncle's b-dae. Bought a cake to celebrate with him + bought some medication for my aunt who lost her voice.
-Send my mom to buy some health supplements. Missed national day celeb. but caught it on the car radio.
-Gotta miss Goh Chok Tong as Prime Minister...*sob. He's a great man.
END OF STORY....kinda' long, eh? So much for trying to shorten my entries...
Had an overnite camp at East Coast Park with me cousins, nephews & nieces on 31st July-1st Aug. Great fun, I'd say. Good for the kids. Give them an idea, what it's like to be outdoors and inject some 'adventure' into their life..Har har...How corny...
We managed to see some fireworks from the National Day preview...Yayy..But returning home was hell, man. Super-shagged, liao... Good tip:kids are never really good when it come to packing up & cleaning up. Esp. when u r 1 of the only 2 adults there...
Worse, I come home to gastric-flu. Of the worst kind. Shucks.
This, is Vladimir Garin..He acted as Andrey in Le Retour a.k.a The Return. He died before even the preview of the film. He actually died in the same lake that they acted in for the movie (though not during the shooting). He drowned...
The sad thing? He is a great actor. You should see his transformation - From a goody-goody who tries hard to impress the newly-found father, to a big brother who takes charge. Oh he can can really widen his eyes, literally. It would have been nice too see more of his acting...
This, is one hell of a good movie. Actually, I watched this almost 2 weeks ago. No time to update...Shucks.
The movie, poignant, yet... Ok, I'm hardly a movie critic. Let's leave it to the experts...
"BRILLIANT...A STUNNING PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER! One of those great unnerving movies that lingersin the mind long after the lights come up. Rating: A."– Lisa Schwarzbaum, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
"A LUMINOUSLY BEAUTIFUL AND ENIGMATIC DEBUT FEATURE."– Leslie Camhi, THE NEW YORK TIMES
"COMPELLING! A masterful piece of cinema... the film goes to a deeper, more profoundly emotional place than its surface gifts would necessarily predict."– Kenneth Turan, LA Times
WORLD CINEMA– By Scarlet Cheng, Special to the LA TIMES
"Spare and austere in its painterly beauty.... this sublimely enigmatic picture seetheswith tumultuous inner life." -Ella Taylor, LA Weekly
It's time I make my blogging short & sweet (bleagh!)
Watching yesterday's episode of nip/tuck...It started off pretty silly. Fancy a severed head talking. Talk about being schizophrenic...
But towards the end..One word. Heart-wrenching.
Despair-Death-Sorrow-Guilt-Truth-Anguish-Separation
End of story...Posted by Hello
I can't believe I actually make a fool of myself with the previous blog...I sure sound like one of those silly girls who actually hold hopes of snaring their fav. actor...Bleagh... Dream on.
Whatever.. I wonder if there's anyone one there who has an effective remedy for absent-mindedness..Of the serious kind. Really... Yesterday, driving home from work, I actually did not turn on the headlights. Yeap..And I left the office at 1930..Dark, I'd say. It's only after I drop my collegue off, that this lady has the courtesy of flagging me down to tell me bout' my headlights... (Thank god it's a civillian...Not the TP..Phew!) I almost banged my head on the steering wheel. Dumb-ass! What if something happened?! Of course I never breathe a word of this to my family.. (Esp. moi dad..) He'll nag...and nag...and nag.....
The reason why I dared to blog this is beacuse my family dunno bout' this blog...Hope my bro dun figure out... Well... it helps if u guys keep mum.... Orite?! *lock pinkies*
I AM getting lazier and lazier to update this thingy. See the pic of the Greeks? Still there! That was ages ago! Sheesh...
My weekend calendars now jam-packed(esp. now with me being the full time driver). Basir & the other guys..So so sorry. Been turning down our meet-ups 2 straight weeks..I noe u guys are pissed. But I will try to make it for the nex un'.
Jus warning you, the National Day weekend is out of question. Got weddingSSSSS..Is that 5s there? That's the no. of weddings that weekend, including the big un', my own cousin's wedding. That will take up the whole of that Sun. That weekend would not have been busy for me, if not for the fact that I have to bring my parents to all the various locations for the jemputanssss. Why, oh why do my bro have to work as a lifeguard(trainee) !
Can't he take a regular 9-5 job or at least one that have off-days on the weekends! Hmmpf! Who am I to complain? Not that I dun like to drive, but I kinda despise long distance driving. Just step on the gas and nothing else and brake a bit when it goes too fast. No adventure, lah! But night drives are fun, esp. down ECP. Love that place. Gotta go there someday...Again. Heee..
My dad should get his license, man. Not as if he can't drive. He just dun want to. Maybe he's the scared un'...My cousin has be chiding me.."Eh, like this, whenever I see ur parents, I'll c u, lah?" He may be joking, but it hit right on target. My already dissipating life is diminished. Now I'm my parents "little girl" aka The Driver. Heh, sounds like a character from Kill Bill...
That saturday I chose to go out with my fren, leaving my parents having to go to Jurong on their own. Felt so bad, man... Well, I can't have my cake & eat it at the same time. Please moi frens or appease moi parents... Take it or leave it. Ciao.
Nothing pisses me off more that clashing tv programmes. Ever had one day when you have to struggle with the remote control, practice perfect timing and solely trust your instincts all at the same time cos' all your 3 favourite tv programmes are playing at 3 different channels? The best part - all chose to play the commercials at the same time. Drats!
Especially last wednesday. I discovered that Amazing Race played at 2000 on AXN. I decide to catch that since I'm sending me mom to work at 2230 and will miss the Ch 5 version. Then the greatest part. . .
2130-TV 3-Black Sash
2200-Central-Film Art 'Adour'
2300-Ch 5-CSI:Miami
2330-Starworld-Charmed
Last Friday....Indonesian Idol @ 2030 RCTI}
Malaysian Idol @ 2100 TV 8} This un the best - I risk missing the GOOD CONTESTANTS SINGING..sheesh....
Monday, July 12, 2004
Hey there, sorry, lah...Been sometime since I last update my blog but I'm juz too tired. Full time driver, part-time daughter. Been ferrying my parents around, esp. sinc my poor gramma is now in Jurong, been goin there to & fro.
Nothing much except that this weekend has been lotsa' 'first times' for me as a driver. 1st time on expressways, parking at multi-storey CPs, go to shopping malls, use cashcard payment, parallel parking and joyride to ECP with my pal, Shyba. All in 2 days. See, told you I drove around(thou a bit too much...)
My gramma looks so shrunken now that I was so scared for her. She just been thru' knee surgery only yet she looked like she been thru' much worse. This happened before... My great-gramma only broke her hip-bone and now she's no more...One thing leads to another....Wokay..wokay..She's gonna be fine..She's gonna be fine....Insya-Allah...em>
Greece won, lah. My bro called it, "A present for the Olympics." Rubbish. Buth Greece & Portugal ain't really my fav. but been a little on Portugal's side towards the end. But Greece did play really well this morn. I may not realli like Christiano "The-Teen" Ronaldo tat much but his passion can put other senior players to shame. He may lose a ball but he will go all the way to get it back. Maybe that passion comes with his youth. Nonchalance.
Then there's the Ex-Brazilian "Hoobastank" Deco. Little thing that has a talent that's way bigger than his size. Whoa! All that hoo-haa bout' Luis "most-no.-of-fouls-in LaLiga" Figo not liking Deco's status as a former Brazilian made me curious bout' this little fella. But Figo deserves some respect too, esp. after his play with Holland. "The Evangelist", the say. Whatever. But to discard that ever-burdening ego of his, for the sake of team unity, esp. since he's the captain, he's reached another level. Scolari still the best coach(hey, Brazil didn't win the World Cup for nothin..) Oh, sorry Wenger, you too.
Thought I am not affected by Portugal's loss, but when my boss(who's not into soccer) asked me who won, my heart sank. Maybe the truth hurts after all. But things happen for a reason, dun they? Thinking bout' those sad/unhappy/disappointed faces of fans & players alike...my heart really goes out to them. Hey, I can still feel it while typing this...
Amazing. The tournament ends the same way it starts. With the loss, included. Strange, but true.... Hey, how much have you guys lost/won???!! Posted by Hello
*YaWn* I'm still sleepy (thou I make no effort to sleep yet..)
I didn't expect this morn's match to drag on for soooo long. I was alreadi cursing for it had caused me to lose > 1hr's worth of ppprrreciousss...sleep.Draw once. X-tra time. Draw 2wice. Then penalty shootout. 2nd shootout. By then I was like, "Oh, gosh, pls let it end soon...." Inside, I was like,"And make sure England lose. Pleeasssee..." Just to make all this lack of sleep worth it. Doesn't help that I am clocking in an hour early for work 2dae. Seriously, I'm not a fan of Portugal. I just wanna c England's defeat. I can hear ppl saying, "Sadisttt!" Hey, to each his own. I made my choice. Now, France & Greece. Top-dog & underdog.
Another thing....(Ok let's sing together, now..) "I got my nuuu car..I got my nuuu car..." Yep yep yep. Just got my car this evening. My cousin (who drove it) managed to covince me to drive it during the last leg home. It's now or neva. I did. It's smoooth, baby! Duh! All new things are nice. Can't wait for my bro to come back & hit the roads again for a nite drive. Maybe even the expressways. Woo hoo!
Driving isn't that bad after all. Xcept tat I've yet to recover my parking skills. Yet to park at multi-storey CPs and master the art of filtering. After that maybe I can drive on my own...full-time. *wink*
Gotta watch the showdown bet. England & Portugal..So fast! Got no time to catch enuff' sleep. Guess what? My boss knew I stay up to watch these matches. It sure doesn't help that I thought I saw him noticing me sleeping on the job. Shucks! I remember, he was about to discard the newspaper he used during lunch when he decide to read it. Suddenly he asked," Siti, u watch soccer, rite?" I was flabbergasted(so he was reading the sports news)... "Ermm..Yeah."
Then he asked, "So did you stay up to watch?" Whoops. "Urh, only some. Those important ones." Gosh I can't believe he still remembered I love soccer. I remember telling him last time that I didn't look for a job soon after school ended cos' I wanna catch World Cup '02. What a thing to tell your boss! Ish! Oh ya, he managed to ask, when I told him the matches start at 0245, "Did you actually stay awake all the way?" I was quick to answer, "I sleep first, then wake up."
His wife even managed to add, "Oh, I've been wondering why you've been wearing specs these past few days...Cos' your eyes are too tired to wear lenses after watching soccer.." Huh? I never thought of that. I quickly tell her bout the 'tembel' I had on my eye which caused it to swell. Great.
Tomorrow is the day we collect the new car. I said 'we' cos' it won't be just my dad & myself(or bro). My uncle & cousin are coming along. Seems like both are more excited bout' this newbie than I am. Maybe I'm just quivering at the thought of driving again after a long time...It doesn't help that my mom has plans to go out early Sat morning. Go here go there. Doesn't she understand I may have difficulty driving around with my rusty skills and a brand new car?? My dad(who understands) keep giving each other 'the rolled-eyes' whenever she talk bout' goin out this Sat. Pressure, man!
Wednesday, June 23, 2004
2 of my fave teams out of Euro '04 alreadi. *sob sob Moi Spaniards and hot-blooded Italian...Uwaaahhh!
Next stop-The Dutch or the Germans. I'm neutral bout these teams. Either one will do. The French hasn't been playing THAT well, but I'm still glad they're in. Hey, moi fave team! Still gotta support, what....Sleeping really well now cos' I'm not gotta miss a single match from the quarter finals on... Hold on tight!!!!
Sunday, June 20, 2004
I mentioned the the camera & the film thingy in my previous post. Well, I now realized y...My cousin msg my dad @ 3pm, saying that she's given birth to a baby girl. Wow!..Sigh..Another new life into this crappy world...
My parents got all excited. Not surprisingly, they mentioned bout' goin to the hospital to visit her that very day. I can't believe my parents. Keep wanting to go out. And there's no car yet. How about when the car finally arrived? I'm gonna die!! Who else to drive but yours truly...? I think every month we r gonna bust lotsa $$$ on petrol & carparking.
Ok, back to topic. We really visit my cousin at ard 4+. I was kinda paiseh to knoe that we actually arrived earlier that the baby's OWN grandparents.*blush*....This thing bout newborn babies..So red, so fragile.Sooo...tiny. Of course I neva carried her. I dunno y I'm scared of carrying babies.Scared I'll break them or something. Maybe it's the dropping part. Whateva.
Aniwae, the other family members arrived later on. I got camera crazy. Click here, click there. Got 16 more film!Was worried bout the impact of flashlight on babies but I was told that babies can only see propoerly when they're bout' 4mths old. The ones who told me that? My 2 MALE cousins. Talk bout being paiseh..*blush again*.
Desperate to finish that roll of film, I asked my zany cousin to finish it up. Dunno what he clicked at...
Stopped by Bedok to top-up ez-link. Remembered my dad once wanted to eat at LJS. So I suggested having dinner there. Satisfaction guaranteed. The waffle fries taste superb. Less salty than the original uns... Then it's home. Here I am. Will post pictures as soon as I washed the film. Time to go digital, baby. All this washing & scanning is getting strenuous!
Celebrated Daddy's Dae yest. Kinda' cool, I guess. Just that my bro can't join us. Him and his new job...
Yep, aniwae, we had lunch at Pondok Gurame, East Coast. My mom wana go to the one at Lot 1 cos' it's new but...hello??! The weather is so darn hot! We even took a cab. Lunch was great. The best is of course the fried Gurame. Yum! Oh, and the sambal belachan. Superrr spicy! My mom say it taste good cos' got buah binjai. Whateva that is...
While at East Coast, we decide to walk to Parkway Parade(again??!)...Great weather. Not too hot. Lotsa' breeze..I realli mean lots. Some ppl sleep in hammocks. We chose a secluded spot and sat. My mom sat by the beach. She looked sooo round from the back (Think she's startin to put on weight). My dad & I took a pic on his fone. Cute! Ha har...I 4got bout the camera at home. Still got some film left from yest's gathering. But I remembered that it's thru' a camera & some unfinished film that I discovered my version of The Butterfly Effect (click here to see). So I decide to let it be & not fret so much..(Although it seems such a waste cos the beach looked sooo good..) At Parkway, what else but shop, lor. Have a great cuppa at Ya Kun. Luurve that place. It's where ppl still eat kaya toast & 1/2 boiled eggs despite it being almost 6pm!( I think my daddy's hooked on their coffee). Survey various hp. My fone...gone-case, ppl can't hear me talking to them... *sob...
Go home, very shagged. Watch tv..What else? Didn't even go online. Almost slept at midnite. Luckily bro (who's getting darker by the day) reminded me to watch W.S. If not...Uwaaahhhh! Posted by Hello
Saturday, June 19, 2004
Had a sort-of class gathering today. Kind of. It's actually Liyun's bdae and maybe ard 1/2 the class were there. Ok lah. Great time to catch up with one anothers' lives...
The dae didn't realli start well for me...Do you eva have ONE day when everything seem to go wrong??? Maybe 2dae's MY dae. early morning, got stomachache of the major kind.(I think yesterday's mee soto got super-extra chilli..) Then in the office I realize I 4got me fone(to refer to previous post).
When I actually planned to leave early, my boss gave me a new job at 5pm and told me to get the layout ready by 6pm (wonderwoman, here I comeee!!!)Sigh..Of all days...Then even after I get the work done b4 630..I began to feel 'paiseh' bout' leavin b4 me bosses. So I stayed. They left a little b4 7.
Went to the main road to get a cab. Neil.Nacht.Null.Void.Whateva. There's juz no taxis. I began to feel like the new Stamford Raffles. 20mins...Still no cab. It occured to me that the other side may have some. None. A min later, I looked again. One. A little more..Another one. That's it. I'm crossing over. Juz dun tell me there's a cab on the side where I once stood like an idiot...Less then 1min, I'm alreadi in a cab..The journey, thank goodness is alrite. Yeah, then its time to pay...$17??! Erk! The Q at the ATM is like buying 4D. Patience, my fren...Figuring out wat to buy...I'm in a hurry & yet, need to buy sumthin...Ahah! Cards & Such! What can I get..Hmm..Cute beanie babies...Less than $10. At 10% disc..Got a duck and scented candle. Upon payment, I got 'psychoed' by the lady to buy a carrier..$5 additional..What got into me, man. Can't I juz say no? Must be this place. Last time I came here..I bought a car.Yikes!
Bus trip was ok...Managed to put film in and the card out of my 'rubbish' bag. On the lift, I wondered how I'm gonna noe her house when I dun haf her unit no?? Stepping out of the lift.."Bayya!!" Ok, my question answered. Her unit's nex to da lift.
Rest awhile, then I went out to the BBQ area. Oh no! My slipper strap snapped. My slipperrr!!! Darn, it's gonna b a looong way home...
I hobbled around in those. Managed to take some pics. I should have juz bought a 12 instead of 24. Now what am I gonna do bout' the other 14??
Luckily Lixian's guy wanna send to MRT. I dragged Xavier & A-long along. Paiseh, lah go alone...Expect the unexpected...I was dropped off at Admiralty, not Woodlands. My mistake. The silly me(hoobling ard with rubberband-strapped slippers) actually followed my frens cross the bridge onli to realize I need to take the bus from the other side. #@$^%&*!!!
Almost slept in the bus(despite me lenses). But those jerks behind me just can't cease talkin nor lower the volume... At Tampines..when taking 22, I actually intend to sit on the uppa deck. Fat chance. I almost trip on that slipper while boarding. Just sit downstairs...*frown*
Well...At least I'm home safely (despite all those mishaps). Just had an MSN conversation with Nadia & Haron, my ol' classmate from Sec sch...Miss those daes...
Friday, June 18, 2004
Today, of all daes...Why..Oh y....did I forget my hp, todae...?! Good alternative. Email.(bless it!) Managed to get thru' to Vien to get Liyun's & Iris's fone number. Juz in case... All I noe is tat from Woodlands Int, take 900 and drop off at the 3rd bus stop. Cool huh? Then after that I can shout her name and hope really hard thet she'll respond.
What can I get for someone on her b-dae when u r really broke and payday is a week away? A card. And...??? But it's the thought that counts, isn't it? Hmm..
My mom asked, this morn, when will we get the car. I heck-care. Dun wanna think bout' it. She mentioned that the SPA thingy with her mom and aunt is postponed till nex' wk. So I guess she'll want me to drive, lah. Hello?! Last time I drive was during Hari Raya and I think my drivin skills are pretty rusty alreadi...And I'm goin to drive around in that brand-new car that I just bring out of the workshop??? I better warn the insurance company in advance....
Thursday, June 17, 2004
Wah, my frens damn cute, man...Told me there's a gathering cum b-dae celabration at ECP...I tot that it's a good deal..They even mention camping (sleep in tents) & maybe BBQ...Such an anti-climax..Maybe my fault awso...neva enquire early(got the info since last Sun)...
The actual and confirmed location of the gathering is at Woodlands...See how far it is??..But I guess I'm goin, after all. It's not often that there's a class gathering like this..(not if someone has the initiative to have it regularly)... hmm..This is one of the times that I wish the car arrived already...Easier to get ard...Can't wait!!! yar..yar...Hopefully I can still remember how to drive...Been a loong time, man!
Missed an important soccer match yest...How can I miss Spain?? Gosh! @#&%^$!!!!
Watching the Denmark vs. Italy match yesterday was such a waste of time!! No goals; the ball practically circulate in the centre. Blah! No mood to check out the players. Not when they hardly perform...My bro said(dunno if he's jokin or not) theat Italy's gonna have 3 penalties. I was like, "Huh?". He said that the mafias have paid certain ppl...Gettit? Wonder which grapevine he got it from... I hate it when the beauty of a game is disrupted by all the fouls and stuff. Bring on the game! The REAL game. If Italy gonna go on playin like tis, I lay my hopes only on France. Disparaissent les misters! Go monsieurs!!! (Lame attempt at French)...
Sunday, June 13, 2004
DON'T read this post yet. Read the one b4 this first..
Ok, lah I decide to con't with the CHANGI JOYRIDE stuff. Got lotsa'time to spare b4 the ultimate match between my fave team(France) & my kinda-disliked team(England). Dunno y I dun like Eng. so much. Maybe it's the captain. Maybe I had enuff' of the Premiership. Just dun like them. I dun like to jump on bandwagons but I'll stay by my France, still. Go France! Dun let me down!!!!
Ok, kinda' out of topic there..Where did I stop?? Oh the part where the door opened...Actually it's not the WHOLE door. It's a 2-leaf door, u c. So only 1 leaf opened. But, HELLO??!
At first it only opened ajar. 'Beezkut', who's sitting in front was like,"Alamak, the door opened! Door opened!!" He was by now lookin back. My bro told me later that he actually wind down his window hastily. Dun' blame him thou. He's sittin on the side where he'll be next to that door. Khai, who sat in the middle was lookin back while pretending to talk to my bro. 'Anjang' who actually opened the side door for ventilation already slide it close. Everyone was still. I was sittin at the back(beside the hind window). Then my bro(he's the onli one lookin in front) said,"Eh, pintu bukak lagi besar, lah!!" The single-leaf door is no longer ajar. It's fully open-to total darkness inside. Ok, that's it. This IS creepy. I was cursing my bro already. Can't he reverse for real? He's still driving into that driveway(near THAT door).He kept trying 2 get proper clearance while reversing & I notice that wheneva he had to make 3-pt turn(like what he's done previously), there's always a banana tree behind. I was hoping he neva hit it while reversing.(I was sittin at the back.) When he finally managed to drive off, all of us looked back at the bungalow. The opened door is like...Like it's actually welcoming us to come inside..Whoa..Goosebumps.
We came back to where that empty church is. My bro actually stopped there. They(the guys)got off. I was like, "What the..??" Heck, since they got off, no point waitin inside that stuffy van. I got off, too.The fresh air is..refreshing. Duh.
U knoe what e' guys did? They actually peed. Then they explore the nearby church. I watched from afar. They went behind the church, knock here, knock there..Then they went up the slope to the empty bungalow nex' door. Dunno wat they did there(can't see them already). I absorbed myself in the surrounding. I loove the peacefulness. The air so fresh(almost 3AM). So quiet. No wonder there are chalets here.
The guys explore the church area again before comin back to the van.I asked what they saw. I was told that a part of the church is extra chilly, like there's air-con. Whatever.
Next, we finally returned to civilisation. Got to 7-11. Bought snacks for early morning picnic @ Changi beach. Tol' my bro I gotta pee(weak bladder) and we stopped @ the beach toilet. No worries, it's brightly lit. We picnic near the water-breaker at Meetin point 2.Chill, man. The sky look like it's gonna pour its load but we heck-care.In fact, there's lightning every now & den.We snack around. The guys sang soppy luv songs(maybe that's why it's gonna rain) and juz' enjoy the breeze. My fav. momont is when the planes flew right above us and we can see their bellies. Kewl! Spent more than 1hr there b4 headin back to the chalet. The chalets in our row are empty so each group slept at the patio of the empty units. So tired liao..Zzzzz..We managed only 2-3hrs of sleep. Hangover.
CHANGI MIDNITE'JOYRIDE...Well, I've been keeping this for quite sometime, now. No mood, lah. Rememember my post about the chalet and I mentioned that on that very nite we went on a joyride to Changi to see some T/S. Right? I guess my bro was not being totally honest there. Apparently we went somewhere, first, before makin tat trip to Changi Point. He apparently made a stop first @ OCH. I knew something was wrong when he actually made a turn into a long, dark and extra-quiet road. when I see that dark, eerie building looming in front, I knew where we were. Idiots! I dun really mind the idea of goin there but he shld have the courtesy of informin us first. They mentioned the mortuary and drove to where it's at. Looks like the other building. We decide to move on and see the T/S(for real this time). We spot one and "she's" a hottie. Too bad the pic have not reached me yet but I will show when I have it..Her name's Fina. She looked like some Thai top model. Just too bad..The guys went ga-ga over her and actually went to have a photo-takin session with her. She graciously agreed(nothin much to do then, aniwae). A whole 15mins with us girls sittin in that van waiting for them to be done. Takper..takper..
The we aent to this cool area on the other side of the runway where you can see planes land & take off.There's some other cars there.We chill there for maybe 1/2hr b4 we drivin off.Turns out they have more on their sleeves..Those buggers!I tot' we r havin supper @ the food centre.Wrong.We came back to the road leadin to the OCH again.What else??!!We took a second look at the mortuary(wonder what's e fancination with this building..) before driving towards East Church Road.(not before goin to dead ends and tight security areas...)All buildings here looks like they've been there for the past century. And with electricity problems, I guess.No lighting except for the streetlites. That, or they are just plain abandoned. One dark building after another..Darks roads leading to even darker roads.I was told that these are actually chalets.My foot!Who'd wanna stay here? Maybe those authors with a major case of mental-block...Amongst the unoccupied bungalows is one where it's super-brightly lit.They assumed there's a lotta 'vice' goin on in there.Then we drove into this road further uphill, even thru' some big gates.Somethin tell me this area seemed restricted.Come to a dead end.Wrong lane.3-point turn.Road too narrow.Deep gorge.Great.
I heard them talkin bout 'The Bungalow On Top of the Hill'.Sounds cool (& eerie)We drove past this empty(& dark) church sitting within a large compound. Every plot of land here is huge! Beside it is a bungalow on a high slope.Eerie.I tot' that's THE bungalow they're talking bout.Wrong again. It's actually further up.Lotsa' lorries parked by the roadside.We drove past the ol' army petrol refill area.The place is like a vehicle graveyard.After a curvy, steep drive uphill, we began to see THE bungalow.Now I knoe what's fancination about...It is super-eerie.This is where the road comes to an end....After we 'admire' the sight, then my bro(the driver) said,"How to make 3-pt turn here?Road to small".Point taken.He then suggested that the only way to turn ard is by driving into the bungalow's driveway, meaning being IN the building area.Great.
I can swear I can sense everybody gettin tense, even the guys.We are gettin a close proximity with whateva we are fancinated about in tat bldg.Drivin in, we realized tat the driveway's too small for our vehicle(maybe meant for horsecarts only during those days..)My bro had to mave saveral attempts to get a clear space for a safe reverse(at the edge of the road is a deep gorge).We drove into the edge of the driveway numerous times. At maybe the 4th turn at the driveway....The main door of the bungalow ACTUALLY opened...No joke...
30052004 Sun-The Dae Of The BBQ.
It's work time. There's prawns(big ones), squids & sausages to skewer. The smell...ugh!. What to do, somebody's gotta do the work. 5 of us(Natra,Ayu,Effy,Suzy & myself) decide to do it production style-each of us 'handling' one station.Many unfortunate pokes and fishy business later, we decide to retreat to the balcony and get down to some R&B & hip-hop.Then it's Snakes & Ladders.We wish there's UNO.Then it's sandwich-making.
The other girls had wanted to go to the pool but I decide not to(I can actually smell the chlorine when I walked by the pool). Being girls, they decide to wait for the sun to be less glaring/hot b4 they take a dip. Finally when it's actually less sunny, they practically rushed there (like neva' c pool b4...). Hee..I just keep watch at the side(like a spare lifeguard) and take care of their things. Seriously it never crossed my mind that it's actually less sunny cos' it's gonna rain. Cos' that is what happened in less that 1/2hr.You should see how everyone scrambled out of the pool. Farnee..
Evening comes, it's BBQ time. Hung-wee, man..And the smell of BBQed seafood..Ahh...My bro's frens arrived around 5+. Darn, cake not here yet. Nothing to tie the balloons to the wall, even. Cock-up, I tell you. As soon as the cake arrived,we all rushed around to paste the baloons...light the candle..photos..Then the cake cutting ceremony..Sigh..So sweet..Double b'daes...And both b'dae boys so chubby. Cute!
Then the guys played soccer. My bro kena chased by a bunch of tots. Wah cute man..Imagine 8 kids chasing after a Botak guy with round belly...Then we hang out at the pool. Check out the shot of Khai in mid-air thru' e link..
Waiting for my fren, Nadia to arrive. She actually came at 11pm. By then almost everyone left(it's Mon the day after). Those staying overnite just hang around. When I spot my bro around, I asked about his plans for that nite. He mentioned a joyride to Changi. "Look for T/S(bapoks)," he said. Hmmm...Well, that's another story....
